چکیده

Global climate change is an alarming problem nowadays. Weather temperatures have been uncertain because of what many scientists claim the effect greenhouse gases, contributed mainly by energy industry. In Malaysia, industry provides a significant contribution to it economy making up about 20 percent GDP. Malaysia third largest natural gas exporter in Asia-Pacific region 2011 and eleventh world (British Petroleum Statistical Review World Energy, 2014). Malaysia's CO2 emission recorded at 185 million tonnes 2010 (International Energy Agency, 2012). Mohd Safaai et al. (2011) projected that without any mitigation measures 285.73 will be released 2020. Copenhagen forum 2009, has pledged reduce 40% carbon emissions 2020 compared 2005 levels. Motivated government efforts, this study construct environmentally extended input-output framework for obtain energy-related intensities sectors. The responded inadequate reliable data on Malaysia’s sectoral growing awareness effectiveness policies. This expanding current understanding interactions among economic activities, intensities, emissions. Results found Transportation second highest contributor emission, these findings were different other existing studies transportation sector as main emission. addition, results suggest necessary control environmental problems encourage use efficiency production process, particularly Building construction sector, Transportation, Electricity, water Agriculture help policy-makers develop strategic plan tools manage with respect four

An Analysis of Environmental Effects of Energy Intensive Economic Activities in Khorasan Razavi Province: Using RAS Regional Input-Output Model

Energy is one of the main factors of production in various economic activities. The development of economic activities in different countries and regions leads to higher energy consumption and production of environmental pollutants. This study uses an Input-Output model based on the CHARM RAS method to investigate the role of economic activities in Khorasan Razavi province in the production of...

Decomposition of Sectoral Greenhouse Gas Emissions: A Subsystem Input-Output Model for the Republic of Ireland

The analysis of gas emissions by an input-output subsystem approach provides detailed insights into pollution generation in an economy by revealing the channels by which the environmental burdens are caused and transmitted throughout the production system. In this paper we propose a decomposition of the greenhouse gas emissions by using an input-output subsystems model. The empirical applicatio...

Sectoral output, energy use, and CO2 emission in middle-income countries

Middle-income countries are currently undergoing massive structural changes towards more industrialized economies. In this paper, we carefully examine the impact of these transformations on the environmental quality of middle-income countries. Specifically, we examine the role of sector value addition to GDP on CO2 emission nexus for middle-income economies controlling for the effects of popula...

Harvesting Energy from CO2 Emissions

When two fluids with different compositions are mixed, mixing energy is released. This holds true for both liquids and gases, though in the case of gases, no technology is yet available to harvest this energy source. Mixing the CO2 in combustion gases with air represents a source of energy with a total annual worldwide capacity of 1570 TWh. To harvest the mixing energy from CO2-containing gas e...
